Major Learning Points About HTML!
1. HTML means HyperText MarkUp. It is the main language for creating web sites.
2. It starts like this:
<html>
<body>
<head>
<title>
</title>
</head></body>
</html>
3. There are many different types of codes and commands we can add in to change the way the words look and its layout.
4. If we only used codes to create a web site, it would be very empty. That's why there is CSS which is a program that enables us to add in colors etc. to make the web site look better and more attractive.
5. A web site created using note pad can only be opened if the HTML file is saved on the desktop or thumb drive.

Web 2.0 vs Web 1.0!
Web 1.0 vs Web 2.0
Basically, Web 1.0 is like 1 person sharing information with a group of other people that cannot reply or do anything in return. While Web 2.0 is 1 group of people being able to share any information around with everyone and everyone is able to receive and share information. According to a website, Web 1.0 is a 'Prototype' for Web 2.0.
Web 2.0 is like a 'generation' ahead of Web 1.0. Web 2.0 is so much better and convenient.

Self Evaluation!
I feel that I deserve 2 points for the PPT as I put in my effort to make it good enough for good marks!
10 Most Important Points From The 57 Slides About The Internet And WWW
(What is a domain name?)
At first, I thought that a domain name is the only thing we can enter to go to a website, but what shocked me was that we can enter the ip address to go to the website. I also learnt that there are many different parts of a domain name. Although I already knew that there is not any domain or ip address that is the same.
(What is Multimedia?)
I didn't know what it meant exactly until I read through the 57 slides. Multimedia is an application integrating text with other media elements such as graphics, animation, audio, video and virtual reality.
(What graphics formats are used on the Web?)
In the beginning, I only knew about .jpeg files, but I also don't know the meaning of it. But after reading this slide, I discovered that there are 5 types of graphics files in total. They are BMP, JPEG, PNG, GIF and TIFF. Because of this new found knowledge, I may be able to save the appropriate file for others.
(What are plug-ins?)
I only know that my computer has a flash player, that's all I know. After this, I found out that many other plug-ins that I know but didn't know that they are plug-ins on my computer. Plug-ins extend the capability of a browser eg. Google Chrome.
(How does an e-mail message travel?)
Before reading the slides, I just thought an email is just like an sms, but I was obviously wrong. It turns out that there are way more steps compared to what I thought it was.
(What is FTP?)
I have no idea what it was until I read the slides. It means File Transfer Protocol. It is the Internet standard that allows you to upload or download files with other computers on the Internet.
(What is internet telephony?)
From the name of it, I interpret it as an internet phone. It turns out that I was half right. It is a phone, but it allows you to speak over the Internet, something like tele-communication.
(What is virtual reality?)
From the name itself, I can guess that it has something to do with simulating reality. From the slides, it is like using a program to simulate 3-D surroundings or environments. I feel that this is very interesting as using technology to make 3-Dimensional objects and surroundings is very astonishing.
(How do handheld computers and cellular telephones access the web?)
It turns out that normal computers are quite different from handheld computers and cellular telephones. They uses micro browser that displays web pages that are mostly texts and Web must be enabled. Normal computers can only connect to WiFi and can access the Internet easily.
(What is a web browser?)
I was only introduced to Internet Explorer, Mozilla FireFox and Google Chrome. In my opinion, google chrome is the fastest among them. After reading the slides, I found out that there were much more different kind of browsers available like Safari, Opera, Netscape. I'm really tempted to try all of them to see which I like the most.

My First PPT About The Internet!
On the first lesson in Term 2, we received our first assignment! I was very excited as it was long since the March holidays had I done any Infocomm. We were grouped according to our register number. I was in Group 5 with Jerald, Noel, Gavin and Yuan Hao. Most of them are very good friends of mine. Our topic was "Different types of websites". We splitted each 2 sub-topics to each person. The sub-topics are Portals, News, Informational, Business, Education, Advocacy, Blog and Personal websites. After we were complete with our individual research, compiled them together and revised them, I never knew that there were so man different types of websites, each with a different use. I was fascinated by what our group had found! It was an enjoyable experience for us.
